Yesterday was a really good day. JW and I met at the mall for a “walk and talk” time (since it was 31 degrees outside). We walked for an hour and 15 minutes and must have gone 3 + miles! I was pretty tired after that!
Then I did a little shopping for CT’s birthday before meeting AR for lunch. Lunch was awesome. I wanted to share with her all that God is doing but I didn’t know if we would have time to get into it all. But God worked it out and I was able to share a lot of it. She responded the way I was hoping she would! She was able to see the “spiritual” testing of our faith and the work that God is doing in us and not focus on the financial side. She asked if the pastor knew about this and I said yes, that Tom had met with him on Friday and explained how the meeting went down. She said that he needed to hear the whole story from the beginning to the end and felt that he would hear and understand a little more. Anyway, I prayed for her and she prayed for me and the prayer was so powerful!! I was truly blessed and felt like God was placing her in our lives for the prayer covering. I gave her the list of scriptures and she said she would use them to pray for us. I was very blessed and we promised to keep in touch and she encouraged me to email her if I needed prayer. Thank you, Jesus!!
When I got home, I asked Tom how his day was and he said it was “interesting” and explained that the pastor had called him back enquiring as to our decision. Tom said he wrestled with pride and frustration all day and hadn’t called him back because he didn’t know what to say. I said well tell him that we would like to get together with him and his wife to tell them the whole story and, if after that he feels the same way then, he needs to do what he feels he needs to do and we will do what we feel we need to do. So, he did and the pastor was very open to that and wanted to hear about it and work it all out with us so we will meet sometime between Christmas and New Years. Another wow.
I have two more scriptures that God has given me:
Reading the Hope Life Journal this morning I saw this:
'Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval." John 6:26- 27
Wow. I had never seen that before!! I feel like God is confirming that we are “working” for the right things and that this will be a good scripture to show the pastor.
Also, while we were at the house church on Sunday one of the women there said that she felt somebody needed to read the book of Ecclesiastes. I didn’t feel in my spirit that I needed to read it so I just let it go and forgot about it. Monday night I kept feeling a prompting to read the bible. It was persistent so I got my bible and opened it up and it opened to the end of Proverbs and I saw the tab for Ecclesiastes and remembered what the girl said so I read it all the way through. The only thing that caught my eye and the Holy Spirit keeps bringing back to mind is chapter 2 verses 24-26:
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
When I told Tom this he said, we just need to find a sinner and have him hand over his wealth, lol. I am not sure what this means but I am finding these little pieces very interesting.
Lord, you are the way, the truth and the light, our provider and our healer. Nothing is ours but yours and we trust you more and more with all that we are and all that you have given us.
